Jay started at Bridge training as a school student from Beaufort, who were trying to re-engage him into some form of learning. Jays attendance as a school learner was intended to be 1 day per week. If Jay attended he would generally disappear at morning break or lunchtime. Jay started at Bridge, working towards the Unit in Carpentry, as part of the L1 Construction qualification.
Jay returned to Bridge after a long absence to learn Bricklaying and Plastering skills, to enable him to achieve a L1 Construction qualification. Jay returned to Bridge with a very mature attitude, knowing that he had to do something with his life to achieve the goals he had set himself. Jay desperately wants to become a ‘Brickie’, but is actually happy to be doing any work in the construction trade, as long as he is working.
He has always been incredibly polite and courteous and has an abundance of core skills that employers look for, willing to learn, learns from his mistakes and is always willing to take responsibility for his own actions.
